We shared dive stories, snacks, science facts, jokes, boredom, tea and more. But mostly we all listened to the wisdom of this incredible woman. Sylvia is the original Ocean warrior. Her energy, passion and vigour at 89 years old puts all of us to shame. Thank you for fighting relentlessly for our Oceans for over 50 years. I hope the work I did helps the cause in some small way. It’s always a pleasure filming out of the unique It’s always a pleasure filming out of the unique @seaventuresdiverig We had some really mixed conditions on this shoot which made filming a challenge. A few beautiful days mixed amongst some strong winds and heavy overcast conditions. But what was constant was the incredible marine life at Pulau Sipadan and the warm and wonderful service from the team at Seaventures. Also friendly cats were found 🐱 Thank you Seaventures. Very grateful to have won a News and Documentary E Very grateful to have won a News and Documentary Emmy 🏆as part of the cinematography team for David Attenborough’s ‘Secret World of Sound’ Produced by the wonderful team at @humblebeefilms and shown worldwide on @netflix and @skytv in the UK Thank you to @theemmys.tv Humblebee and to Producer Bridget Appleby and Director @nali_fish for bringing me onboard to shoot a story about the saddleback clownfish that live close to my home here in Malaysia. To be honest, working consistently in wildlife film-making is its own reward. I get to do something creative, and work alongside some of the most talented and lovely people I could ever hope to meet. Being a part of that worldwide filmmaking community is a real source of pride and joy. But I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t nice to win the odd gold star every now and then 😅 We shot the story at Scuba Junkie Mabul Resort with the team at @scuba_junkie who were incredibly helpful in recceing and supporting us before and during filming. Biggest thanks is reserved to my good friend and regular AC, safety diver and fish whisperer @jasonisley without whom these beautiful benthic stories would never look as good. My ‘underdog’ for the new @natgeotv series ‘ My ‘underdog’ for the new @natgeotv series ‘underdogs’ was the hairy frogfish. The master of disguise with a lightning fast strike. It features in Ep 4 - The Unusual Suspects I shot the bulk of the sequence using my Red DSMC2 Gemini in a @nauticamhousings LT housing. Key to getting into the tiny hairy frogfish’s world was the Nauticam EMWL scope lens which gives a wonderful bugs-eye view. For the predation shots I used a Phantom Veo (also in a Nauticam housing) and Keldan 45k lumen lights to capture strikes at between 500-1000 frames per second. One feature of this camera is that you have to review the footage underwater, then save the shot to the memory card or delete it. Very quickly the guides assisting us caught on to this and we would have underwater viewings with everyone huddled round the monitor to see if we had got the shot. Here is the full trailer for Underdogs, a new take Here is the full trailer for Underdogs, a new take on wildlife documentaries produced by @wildstarfilms and @vancityreynolds for @natgeotv I filmed a great character for this show, one of my favorite underwater critters. I can’t give away who he was yet but he’s on the trailer. It was a really creative shoot and on top of that we got to shoot a bunch of awesome slomo shots on a Phantom underwater which is always fun. I’m really happy with how the sequence turned out. Can’t wait to share more details from the shoot when the series airs in June. A little bonus surprise was hearing @greenday on the trailer. I’m a 90’s kid and they are one of my favourite bands. So stoked 🤟Maybe Season 2 could use @pearljam 🤘😅 We worked out of the amazing @diveinto_lembeh who gave us incredible support from their team.
